Background
About Jon Ajuria
Dr. Jon Ajuria completed his bachelor degree in Chemistry in 2003 at the University of the Basque Country. During the last year he carried out his bachelor thesis at the University of Bergen, Norway. In 2004 he joined the Energy Department of IK-4 CIDETEC where he dedicated 3 years of intense research activity in Hydrogen Fuel Cells. During those years, his research evolved from lab scale, focused on the development of new electrodes and Membrane Electrode Assembly systems for efficient single fuel cells, to the assembly and electrical characterization of up to 1 Kilowatt fuel cell stacks on the search of industrial applications. Motivated by the challenge of a doctoral thesis, he moved to IK-4 IKERLAN in 2007 where he obtained his PhD degree in 2012 by the University of the Basque Country. Research carried during this period of time was devoted to the development of hybrid organic-inorganic flexible solar cells based on nanostructured electrodes. In the frame of his PhD he visited Dr.Oliver Hayden´s group at SIEMENS (Germany). After his PhD, he stayed for 3 years at IK-4 IKERLAN as a researcher where he participated in several European Projects, where his research was mainly focused on the development of organic solar cells based on inorganic electrodes and new generation low band gap materials together with the fabrication of tandem cells. Since 2013 he is associate editor of Translational Material Science. In 2015 Dr. Ajuria joined CIC Energigune as a researcher in the new born Hybrid Supercapacitor research line. His current research is focused on the development and electrochemical characterization of hybrid supercapacitors based on a combination of supercapacitor and battery type electrodes. In this period of time he has been deputy coordinator of a Basque Goverment ELKARTEK 2015 project and deputy coordinator of a H2020 ITN Marie Courie Innovative Training Network proposal.
