About Jon Dyar Boles

Jon is a multilingual energy finance and investment solution provider. Beginning work as a generalist banker in Germany, building things proved more interesting than moving basis points, and cash-flow based finance for infrastructure solutions was the tool to deliver meaningful solutions. Working from bases in São Paolo and Buenos Aires over a five year period, Jon and his teams structured and arranged financing for companies and projects across Latin America.Energy came into focus early as the second key theme and the opportunity arose to join one of the world's leading utilities, building teams and executing structured and project finance transactions and managing the regional treasury operations. Leading the integration of five companies acting across the value chain in Italy opened the door for Jon to serve as CFO and Chief Risk Officer of a fully-integrated, multi-billion Euro turnover energy utility.The chance to move from the corporate world, with its strategic impact but heavily emphasis on reporting and line management, to the investment management industry, brought Jon to London as CFO of a first-time fund focusing on cleantech and renewable energy. While serving as the Fund's representative on boards and vetting potential investments, Jon became convinced of the importance of helping build businesses that have the potential to impact climate change. Working as hands-on or hands-in partner or in a senior advisory capacity to entrepreneurs and corporates, Jon has contributed to the development of businesses across real and virtual renewable energy infrastructure, including EV charging and energy efficiency, and carbon capture, storage and utilisation. One particular highlight was supporting Climeworks on the project financing for their Orca Direct Air Capture facility in Iceland, a groundbreaking transaction in FOAS technology finance. Most recently, Jon has been active in the power to gas / efuels sector, working with solutions that can take advantage of existing energy infrastructure and markets while creating value from carbon dioxide and providing a pathway to market for green hydrogen.
