About Jonas Holmer

Who am I?I have a passion for software architecture. Well. at least for good software architecture. In my opinion system development should have a strong focus on quality and long term maintainability, whilst still keeping a good balance with business requirements and needs. I also feel that a good software architecture should scale well, both on the technical as well as the organizational side. Loose coupling is my preferred basis for achieving this. For software it creates small building blocks which can scale independently and for an organization it means that teams and their individuals can work on many things simultaneously to achieve common goals with minimal interference from each other. This parallelism does of course also come with a need for coordination. Clear common goals, good communication and a healthy dose of encouraging leadership are also important ingredients to success. I also know that there is no single pattern or solution to every case. What makes things work well in one situation doesn't necessarily fit another. Requirements differ, circumstances differ, people differ. These are some of the things that I think makes working with software development, architecture and the people around it so interesting.and when I'm not at work?Well, I do sometimes dig into technology in my spare time too because I enjoy it, but for the most part I do other things. I'm however not the type of person who can list my top 3 hobbies. I like variation and I like trying and learning new things. Sometimes I enjoy reading a book or spending time in good company. In winter times I like to go skiing and in the summer snorkeling isn't uncommon. Lately I have been doing some woodworking and challenged my patience with using hand tools.and sometimes it is something completely different like “Can you build a sandcastle archway out of small rocks?” (It turns out you can, I have pictures to prove it. It’s really scary to remove the scaffolding though).
