About Jonathan Banks

I am passionate about community, inclusion and diversity and the impact we have on each other and the planet. At PwC, I am a Senior Manager in the Australian tax team, with a core focus on supporting clients in the Energy, Utilities and Resources industry with tax and sustainability matters. In addition to my experiences at PwC, I am a proud and active member of the Perth LGBTI+ not-for-profit sector, including being the founder of the Perth Spectres Basketball Club and a Board Member and Treasurer of Living Proud Inc. The Perth Spectres Basketball Club strives to build an inclusive and fun basketball community, whilst Living Proud provides the local Perth LGBTI+ community with peer-to-peer support and counselling services. At the core of my professional experience is Australian corporate income tax matters, including compliance, advisory, M&A and governance. In addition to these, I was fortunate to spend a substantial period of time in the international tax team of PwC Netherlands, based out of Amsterdam, where I focused on the EU regulated carbon market and international tax M&A services. After returning to Australia in 2024, I am looking to use my experience with the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (EU CBAM) to help Australian businesses manage their own carbon obligations (under the Australian Safeguard Mechanism) and the ever increasing impact of carbon pricing on their value chain. Whilst being a tax practitioner at my core, I am motivated by the connections we form as fellow humans making our way across this big old rock!
