Background
About Jonathan Geill
I have British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited Psychology PGDip (Full conversion degree) and Psychological Research Methods MSc, as well as Applied Social Sciences BA (Hons). I am an active member of the BPS and on NW Committee; attending conferences, interacting with Psychology academics and professionals and engaged in Qualitative and Community Psychology divisions. My academic studies have mostly been in psychology, social sciences, statistics and research methods. This has included scientific method, accurate analytical skills, and research ethics. For my dissertation, I carried out research into underemployment and unemployment. I took voluntary redundancy to do this in order to update and enhance existing skills, to move into a new career. I am also familiar with the latest technology and research methods from doing a recent postgraduate course. I then carried on with further research, as part of another MSc, intended to lead to PhD, however, due to financial constraints, have had to put back completing this, but I have still gained from doing this, including experience of mixed methods. Recently, I have worked as a volunteer for Citizens Advice Bureau in two responsible job roles, as Gateway Assessor and as a Research Assistant. I have always cared for others’ welfare and well-being, particularly disabled and vulnerable people. In addition, I relate well with people at all levels, whether work colleagues, the public, clients, academic staff, or students. I would therefore welcome utilising my experience and academic skills in a meaningful career, where I could have a positive impact on others. I have skills, experience, and qualifications that are particularly applicable to counselling, and any area related to psychology, statistics and research. I am willing and would welcome carrying on with relevant further study, to build on and specialise in any of these areas. I can relocate at short notice anywhere in UK or around the world.
