About Jonathan Moallem

If you were to ask me about what gets me out of bed in the morning, I would say it's making cool stuff. At my core, I am a creator, and I love to craft experiences. I am currently working as a gameplay programmer in Unreal Engine and have also worked previously as a pipeline software engineer, developing and maintaining animation & VFX software based on Pixar's USD 3D scene description format in C++ and Python. In my spare time, I have co-founded and worked over the last two years to lead an independent, open-source, game development team, Caps Collective. We recently published our debut title on Steam: Fantasy Town Regional Manager. Some of the knowledge and skills I have picked up over my 6+ years doing software engineering include: • Games development (with Unreal, Unity, Godot, C++, and more) • VFX pipeline development (with Pixar USD, Maya API, Qt, and Rez) • Web application development (with Ruby on Rails, Node.js, React.js, Django, and more) • Mobile application development (with Android, iOS & Flutter SDKs) • Git and Perforce source control, release management, and CI/CD tooling • Project & team management • Client communication • Software UX & I design In summary, I have a strong passion for learning in service of creation, so if I'm not working hard on one of my projects, I'm likely at a game jam, learning a new skill, or off hiking somewhere.
