About Jonathan Reyes

Jonathan is living the expat dream in Japan! He is a Language Teacher through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET), teaching at a high school in the heart of Yamanashi Prefecture (the home of Mount Fuji). His students are an absolute wonder to teach! Before JET, Jonathan's worked with the greater Seattle community as a Vaccine Coordinator with the Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC). As part of the COVID Team, he ensured the COVID-19 vaccine rollout reached DESC's clients, whether they were housed in DESC's low-income housing or were living in encampments. Jonathan also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador from January 2019 to March 2020. Initially swearing in for a two-year commitment, he completed his service circumstantially when the agency ceased operations worldwide due to COVID-19. He is a graduate of the Dual Degree Program at Boston University. His degrees are in Business Administration & Management (with dual concentrations in Marketing and Organizational Behavior) and Communication (with a specialization in Advertising) from the Questrom School of Business and the College of Communication, respectively, with an additional minor in Spanish. Jonathan's interests include language and culture exchange, volunteering, fitness, marketing, film, television, relationship-building, and globalization. He is committed to being a constant learner, and is taking advantage of the grand opportunity to immerse himself in another culture. He is proficient in English and Spanish, is conversational in Tagalog, and is diligently working on Japanese.
