About Joseph Link

My core values are determination, flexibility, and integrity. My life is most satisfying when I am surrounded by people who all have the passion and drive to enrich the world with their art. I have always had a keen interest in using space to enhance an audience member's experience of a story. Through my work in theater, I learned how to craft lumber and steel into fantastical environments and realistic worlds. Since the pandemic, and a time of lockdown and isolation, I have been learning how to employ those same techniques in a digital space. I use programs such as Maya and Unity to build virtual environments, which can be used with either VR gear or projected onto physical surfaces. By combining digital technology, theatrical design, and performative art, I can construct narratives with tailored settings. I create in an exhibition style where the audience can walk through and be immersed in the layers of physical space, digital augmentation, and narrative. I want to challenge perspectives and explore the ways people are connected. I want to offer an audience more than on way to engage with a story when experiencing my art.
