About Josephine Hook

Brief bio Jo is a qualified teacher and historian with twenty years experience in research and education in the secondary and higher education sectors. She currently works as an education design lead in the Arts Faculty at Monash University where she partners with academics to transform their teaching practice for the digital learning environment. Jo has also worked as a consultant historian, authoring two commissioned histories of welfare agencies in Melbourne and contributing to various collected works. Career snapshot - I am recognised as a leading higher education professional with faculty, university and national teaching awards for my innovative and sustainable approach to whole-of-institution curriculum transformation. I was awarded a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of my education practice in 2019- I have a rich and varied experience of partnering with academic colleagues, program directors and key university stakeholders to develop educators’ practice as they conceptualise, design, deliver and review best practice blended learning materials and experiences for students- I have over ten years experience leading high-performing teams in the higher education sector with a focus on education innovation and academic staff development- I am a member of the Faculty’s education executive committee, amongst other key committees and working groups that set the education strategy for the Faculty. I represent the Faculty on several University committees and working groups and play a key role in the University’s Education Designer community of practice- I reflect upon and share my education and leadership practice via scholarly research, including publications, and national and international higher education conference presentations.
