About Joshua Devlin

As a recent graduate of Ulster University I have acquired and developed a number of skills through both my studies and work experience. Some of these skills are academic where I have demonstrated an ability to seek out, understand and reproduce information based on developing research within the field of History. With these academic skills I was able to excel receiving a first class honours degree, and although these skills were developed within an academic setting they are largely transferable and interdisciplinary in nature. My ability to work with and understand large amounts of written work, and deliver a condensed account of the key points involved would be very useful in a number of positions, within a number of fields. Also through this work I have become proficient in the use of many government databases and search engines, even undertaking an extracurricular course in honing these skills. I have also become more than familiar with the use of Microsoft Office, using Microsoft word to produce essays and other pieces of written work, and using PowerPoint to develop presentations for use in public speaking. Outside of the usual academic setting I also had a healthy engagement with the university community, and extracurricular activities for which I was awarded an Ulster EDGE award. With these large ongoing parts of my university life and healthy social life I have also developed key time management skills, which I apply along with my good work ethic not just to my academic work, but to anything I do. Since graduation I have held a teaching position in Guiyang University, where I continued to deploy many of these skill. Aside from teaching, I conducted many administrative tasks in relation to the grading of my students.
