About Joshua M.

I'm a senior tools programmer making my coworkers lives better one tool at a time. I've been making internal support tools for my entire programming career both in and out of the games industry. I started as a programmer for the US Air Force where they taught me the basics of programming and I learned about cyber security in one of the first cybersecurity units in the Air Force. When I left the military I focused on full stack development of internal websites to make people's jobs easier. But my dream has always been to be in the games industry and so I finished a degree in Game and Simulation programming and started job hunting for something in the industry. I was fortunately able to land a job at Funcom where I have continued to simplify complex tasks for other people. Funcom has also supported me with my desire to be more involved in directly making games. I completed a Game Design apprenticeship through them where I learned a lot about what it's like to do game design professionally as opposed to my school projects, game jams, and personal projects.
