About Joshua Park

As the Director of Learning Commons at Trinity Western University, I provide innovative and collaborative leadership for academic supports at the Richmond campus. I have over four years of experience in this role, and I hold a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Waterloo. My core competencies include supervising the Learning Commons' daily operations, partnering with students, faculty, and staff, and ensuring that the planning, implementation, and evaluation of academic support programs, resources, and tools meets the needs of the campus community. I also directly supervise Academic, Content and Writing Coaches and indirectly oversee the work of student employees, as well as hiring, training, assessment, budgetary management, and marketing the Learning Commons and its services. My mission is to inspire individuals to become all they can be, and to critically think about their social surroundings. I have a strong background in Sociology, having taught as a Part-Time Instructor at TWU for over five years, and having coordinated the Supplemental Instruction program for high-risk courses for one and a half years. I am passionate about facilitating class discussions, promoting a safe and fruitful learning environment, and encouraging critical thinking among students. I am a people person, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven ability to advise and support students, leaders, and colleagues. I am always eager to learn new things, to embrace challenges, and to contribute to the academic success and personal growth of the TWU community.
