Background

About Joshua Vargas

As a registrar at Phillips, I managed the cataloging and registration of twentieth century and contemporary art collections. I applied my expertise in exhibitions and appraisals to document and assess the value and significance of artworks, using database systems and best practices for efficient data management. I also collaborated with consignors, curators, and other stakeholders to ensure the integrity and accessibility of cultural heritage. My passion for art history led me to pursue a MA in History of Art from UCL, where I developed my research and writing skills. I also completed the Comprehensive Appraisal Studies Program from the Appraisers Association of America, and obtained certifications in CELTA, Applied Jewelry Professional, and USPAP. I have a strong background in cataloging and registration, having worked at iGavel Auctions and Leeds City Art Gallery before joining Phillips. I am detail-oriented, communicative, and dedicated to my work.
