About Joy Hartman

I recently graduated from Hope College with a degree in Social Work. I am interested in working with a variety of populations including: school-aged children with disabilities, children receiving early intervention services, children that had undergone adoption, foster-care, or other trauma as well as these children's birth, adoptive, and/or foster care families and the larger client system. I'm fascinated by the art of intervention in both the child and family's everyday life. I admire both the visible and non-visible recognition of progress and development through trauma-informed therapy and early intervention. I'm eager about keeping a child and family in their natural environment in order to increase motivation and intervention progress. As such, I've both taken and aided in the development of courses and training to learn about these very strategies. I have interned with a program that specializes in early intervention as well as obtained cross-cultural experience working with orphans with significant special needs. I've like to now take this experience and passion and put it to good use, analyzing the newest research and knowledge for such therapy.
