About Joy Henderson
Passionate about community, and abolishing and dismantling colonial systems I bring that to all my work, whether it's teaching post-secondary, public speaking, and community facilitation workshops, writing articles, in my practice with young people and/or community, or the many places I volunteer. I love the intersection of community organizing and education, in addition to helping educators and students discover strategies to make education safer and more representative of the student populations and their communities. I always bring a strong equity lens and united Black and Indigenous peoples in solidarity is the key to my heart. I also strongly believe and work within Disability Justice Frameworks, and have dedicated a lot of my time recently to combatting the rising homophobia and transphobia seeping its way into our communities. I can only do what I do because of community support and collaboration and it's with that lens, I bring into my practice.
