About Judith Villegas

Connected, Electric and Autonomous vehicles are deploying all over the world, but are roadways ready? As an Electrical Engineer in Transportation, I see the value of blending smart technology in road infrastructure to enhance the driving experience. At THEA, I challenge teams to bring innovative transportation solutions to our roadway design and construction projects. The result: drivers spend less time on the road and more time on things they truly enjoy. At THEA, I take routine roadway maintenance and operations activities and look at them through the lens of an emerging technology enthusiast. By incorporating new technology such as retroreflective tape, in-pavement lights and dynamic message signs, I can help significantly improve driving conditions and potentially save lives. As a project manager, I develop procurement documents, select engineering teams and lead the project through final acceptance. I have contributed to several projects at THEA, most notably: • Connected Vehicle Pilot • Selmon West Extension Design-Build • East Selmon Slip Ramps Design-Build Learning and adaptability are necessary when working with technology and I am continuously working on professional and educational development. I completed my MBA degree from the University of Florida as part of their Engineering Management Program in 2023.
