While assisting Vaughn Hagen CPA full time with corporate and individual tax returns, Julia also worked part-time to make "Children of the Civil Rights", an independent documentary film. As board member and capital campaign co-chair, Julia helped to raise critical funds to purchase a building for the new Pickford Film Center home. Earlier in her career, Julia took the Executive Director position at Allied Arts of Whatcom County and turned the organization around from its impending closure. To do this, she gathered a fantastic team of volunteers, rebranded, expanded its arts education program, and grew its largest event. She received a Mayor’s Arts Award for her work. When Julia is not working for non-profits, she is creating award winning stories that help the young grow and be successful and producing fine art that brings the viewer happiness. Documentaries include "Children of the Civil Rights"(as seen on PBS) and "The Great Experiment"(in production). Other recent works include illustrating children books:"Thinking Thoughts" written by George & Linda Pransky and “The Great Adventures of Bill Bixby-Boundless Beach” by Steven Thomas Webb.
