Background
About Julia Muench
Looking and “seeing“ is an intentional act. You, as the perceiver, may also find a sense of rhythm, balance, and wonder… is my hope in creating. Julia Muench Julia Muench is a multidisciplinary, visionary artist and creator, based in Leonardo, New Jersey. Julia spent her youth growing up in the South Miami area, and has lived in Monmouth County since 2005. Her deep interest in the study of how nature works, and it’s protection, is a constant inspiration for her artwork. A lifelong study of classical music and dance is also a strong influence on her creativity. Most recently, 16 of her fiber art pieces were included in the exhibit, Fiber of Our Being in January 2025, at the Long Branch Center for Art and Culture. Julia teaches and works with the public giving interactive art talks about sustainable materials for the environment, and the fabrics we use daily providing activities and interesting and lesser known fiber facts. Her large textile work Chromatic Warrior was selected into the Noyes Museum’s Annual Mother Nature versus Human Nature exhibit in January of 2023. Julia creates her vibrant fiber pieces “constructions” in three layers, with embroidery, quilting, and hand sewn-beading, inside the top layer. Some of her larger pieces take up to several months to create. Much of her art work is in mixed media, using sustainable fabrics, such as hemp cloth and linen, repurposed fabrics, like denim, as well as glass beads, and wool yarn. Recent public exhibits and community art talks include: Julia's award winning art work has been accepted into several galleries: Art Alliance of Red Bank, New Jersey, Art Complex Center Duxbury, MA, Woodstock Artist's Association, BSB Galleries, Trenton, NJ. Julia’s prize winning artwork piece Birthing of Ideas was on display in the 2020 Winter Show Exhibit, Art Complex Center, Duxbury, MA, through August 2020. Additional art work may be viewed online at Julia’s work reveals an abstract and sometimes surreal esthetic sense; starting with basic geometric and organic forms, then breaking out of traditional and then building of new structures. Julia’s artwork has also been chosen for several publications in several art and literary magazines: Spotlight Magazine, Passenger's Journal, Vermont’s Mud Season Review, and Oregon’s High Shelf Press. etc.
