About Julia Pinto

I am grateful for the opportunities I've had to explore my talents and interests in different parts of the US, from LA to Dallas, Washington DC, and the US-Mexico border. I've been surprised by the numerous areas of overlap between teaching high school and running an emergency shelter for migrants on the border (among other volunteer responsibilities I have held over the past 5 years). In both professional and volunteer work, I find purpose and fulfillment in supporting people in their physical and emotional needs, helping others recognize and achieve their potential, fostering community connections and an inclusive, welcoming environment, detailed organization and hands-on leadership, and making people laugh. I find that I do best one-on-one with others, as I can focus on the individual in front of me and be more attentive to their needs or learning style.
