About Julia Preston

I began my route into Education by tutoring adult classes in Spanish at Macclesfield College of FE. I completed the City & Guilds 7307 (FAHE - Further and Higher Education). I then applied to the Open University to study Spanish, French and English Language & Linguistics and gained a BA Hons 2:1. Since graduating with the OU, I have completed the PGCE (Secondary/ Languages) at Manchester Metropolitan University, shortly afterwards moving to Scotland to begin teaching in the secondary sector. Since being in Scotland I have completed a course with Strathclyde University for Additional Needs. My role as Secondary Teacher of Spanish with French was put on hold whilst I took up the opportunity for a Secondment for 1+2 Languages Development Officer and Gaelic Language Development Officer. The Gaelic role would open up a number of opportunites to study the language: 1. Sabhal Mor Ostai (SMO) Highlands & Islands University : Cursa Inntrigidh 2. GLPS now GLL: Gaelic for Primary Schools for Practitioners 3. National 5 Gaelic Learners: through e-Sgoil 4. Higher Gaelic Learners through e-Sgoil 5. Gaelic Awareness Training / SMO / Edinburgh University I now offer my time on a voluntary basis to teach adults Beginners Gaelic on a weekly basis in my local town.
