About K. D. Byers

K.D. Byers is the Director of Communications and Business Manager for Trinity United Methodist Church where she designs and executes strategic communications and oversees financial, personnel, and facility business. She develops partnerships with non-profit organizations and businesses to extend the ministries of the church into the community, and oversees volunteers to execute projects that further the church's mission. K.D. does freelance faith-based communications strategy and writing. Recent projects include curriculum writing with Sparkhouse, a Christian publisher, and communications consulting for Duke Initiatives in Theology & the Arts (DITA). K.D. is passionate about the intersection of faith and writing. She holds a Masters of Divinity from Duke University, a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, and a Bachelors of Arts in English with a concentration in creative writing and minor in journalism from the University of Iowa. She has contributed to the anthology Talking Taboo: American Christian Women Get Frank About Faith (White Cloud Press, October, 2013) and her essays have appeared in Faith & Leadership, Q Ideas, and other magazines.
