About Kai Pata

1987-1992 I studied biology and zoology at the Univeristy of Tartu obtaining also the license of biology and chemistry teacher. I have developed and run together with my collegues the virtual learning environment for primary and seconday education in Estonia. I studied the University of Tartu obtaining MSc in biology didactics. I worked as the research assistant in the Science Didactics Department of the University of Tartu. 2001-2005 I continued my career as the researcher in the workgroup of educational technology for teaching science subjects in the same department. 2001-2005 I was the postgraduate student at the University of Turku, having PhD in Education in 2005. My thesis was about scaffolding role-plays in synchronous environment (scaffolding patterns for learning). 2001-2002 I worked a the science teacher in the basic school to get school experience. 2005-2007 I worked as the senior researcher in the workgroup of educational technology in science education (model-based reasoning, scaffolding inquiry learning, semiotic approach to complex learning environments) From 2006 Senior researcher (digital learning ecosystems, learning@work with semantic technologies, narrative learning in hybrid environments) in Tallinn University, CET workgroup From 2021 I am a professor of Adult and informal education in Tallinn University
