Background
About Kara Sherman
Hello! I currently teach English at Denver North High School. My educational philosophy is guided by equity, personalization, and belief that students are capable of anything given appropriate tools and support. In large part due to my sociology background, I believe that intelligence, motivation, and self-belief are cultivated throughout life by experience. It is my job as an educator to support these pathways of growth. My path to serving youth began in 2014 with Swift Youth Foundation, a non-profit working to help Phoenix-area students meet their basic needs while partnering with teen mentors to develop leadership and social skills. I currently volunteer with Swift to lead programming for elementary-aged students and to train high school-aged mentors.
