About Kate Collimore

I’ve been described as, ‘A hammer looking for a nail!’ I am a dedicated worker with a great deal of experience. I am flexible, using judgment in selecting and adapting guidelines to each specific situation. I communicate effectively and understand how a demanding department operates. I had the tremendously rewarding experience of working at Naval Station Great Lakes, twice. Most proudly with the Chief Master at Arms at Naval Hospital Corps School. These positions required me to work directly with numerous local, federal and Naval authorities. I regularly provided detailed reports directly to both the Commanding Officer and the Executive Officer. These reports were highly complex and contained sensitive, often confidential information. After only 7 months at Great Lakes, and no previous experience in this field, my hard work was recognized and I was nominated for Civilian Employee of the Year. I was also presented with a prestigious ‘Captain’s Coin’ and ‘A Letter of Appreciation’ from my Commanding Officer, Capt. T. S. Gee. Previously, I worked in community banking, then spent many years in the demanding financial industry, working at the most successful Mutual Fund / Investment Firm in the country. I have been appointed by Waukegan Mayor Sam Cunningham and currently serve on the Waukegan Stakeholder Participation Panel. This panel reviews complicated grant proposals and distributes funds to numerous charitable organizations throughout Lake County. Additionally, I have volunteered, planned events and raised funds for Waukegan Main Street, Waukegan Historical Society and Friends of the Historic Genesee Theatre.
