About Kathryn Botsford

Prior to joining the APH ConnectCenter in October of 2020, Dr. Kathryn Botsford, was the Executive Director of Vision Education Research, L.L.C.(VER), an organization chartered to promote and evaluate the use of evidence based practices in the education of persons with visual impairments. She is a licensed teacher of the visually impaired and certified orientation and mobility specialist. Formerly, an Assistant Professor of Research at Portland State University, Dr. Botsford continues to support the professional development of new teachers by developing research grant proposals, on-line curriculum, and adjunct teaching for both San Fransisco State University, Dominican College. Dr. Botsford was a National Leadership Consortium on Sensory Disabilities (NLCSD) Fellow, who completed her dissertation in 2014: Quality Of Life as a Transition Outcome for Youth with Visual Impairments: Testing Competing Models Using National Longitudinal Transition Study-2 (NLTS2) Data. Valuing professional service, Dr. Botsford supports professional colleagues in the following capacities: Treasurer Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER) Board of Directors; Region 1 Representative AER International Board; 2002-2008: President Oregon Chapter of AER, 2020-2022. Dr. Botsford's research interests include: public policy and advocacy, inclusion and the continuum of special education services, transition, and programming for children with multiple exceptionalities, large-scale data, and quantitative and qualitative research methods.
