Background
About Katrin Eickhorst
In over 30 years of professional experience in three different sectors, I have acquired a list of transferable skills relevant to a number of situations. The main focus of my career was on classical music, as a performer of cello and recorder with considerable experience overseas, including global travel. I specialise in period performance on baroque cello and recorder and have taught this at university level. Within the education sector I draw from my knowledge in the primary, secondary, tertiary level and in adult education, where I have coached, mentored and facilitated. I am equally proficient in two languages, English and German, the latter being my native language. This has given me interesting opportunities to teach, write and translate for archives and publications. I am flexible, a fast learner and adapt quickly to new situations. Because of my excellent communication skills, a number of successful management committees, facilitating education for all ages, value my input. This has contributed to Wellington’s vibrant cultural scene. I worked for the Archdiocese of Wellington for seven years, initially as Executive Assistant to the General Manager to which I added the Stewardship and Philanthropy office in 2018. From 2019-2022, I was Trainer/Coordinator Seasons for Growth at Catholic Social Services. It is an educational programme, assisting people manage loss and grief after life changing experiences. My most recent role is that of administration and event coordination. Comments: “Thank you so much. This has been very worthwhile for me and I greatly appreciate your efforts. I really admire you for what you do. It’s such a beautiful and selfless thing you do!” - Course participant 2021 “Thank you for your modelling, stories, openness to all questions, your calm and clear delivery” - training participant 2021 "It was a privilege to mentor you through this programme. We are fortunate to have you on board as a Trainer in the Seasons for Growth programme."- Mentor, Seasons for Growth, November 2019 I have had such wonderful feedback from the cello and recorder workshop.” - Manager of Hawkes Bay Or-ches-trate 2008 “You always were one of the most gifted and talented teachers we have met.” – a mother’s comment 2012 “… has been accepted to the New Zealand School of Music … and credits Katrin Eickhorst with keeping her at the cello when her motivation was flagging.” - DomPost
