Background
About Ken Wahl
A lifelong mariner who has devoted much of his professional career promoting marine safety. Following generations old seafaring Navy tradition of his family. He began his experience on small family pleasure boats at an early age of 3, he bought his first boat back in 1969. Later he began testing boats and writing a boating safety column for Pleasure Boating, a national boating magazine in 1973, he has operated literally hundreds of “different” family sized boats throughout the next 45 yrs. He then took this vast maritime experience to become the youngest USCG Licensed Master in the country. Accumulating over DAYS of boating experience since, nearly a solid 22 years of his life at sea. In 1984 he joined the Sea School and decided to take his vast experiences to the next level and personally teach over students the art of safe navigation for the next 28 yrs. He has taught Police, U.S. Customs Agents, Rescue Divers, Fire Fighters & U.S. Armed Forces personnel to become better responders in emergencies and has even taught accident reconstruction to boat brokers and surveyors to identify damage. Wahl was also called in for a specialized vessel for a certain gov. agency geared toward pirate interdiction along the African coast. He currently wears 2 hats, Executive VP at the Sea School, a Marine Safety Consultant. Wahl says,"Determining cause of marine incidents and accidents, have been my passion during the past 20 years, teaching my students why things went wrong helps them become even better boaters". He has written numerous books, on RADAR/AIS, Rules of the Road, F/A & CPR, Terrestrial nav, and Marine Accident Reconstruction used exclusively at the Sea School. Currently both he and his wife, have boats docked behind their Tampa Bay waterfront residence.
