While a self-proclaimed “wearer of many hats”, Kent’s primary role within the firm is Director of Communications. He acts as an intermediary between the firm’s design team and the firm’s external stakeholders, which include past and potential clients, contractors, and the general public. Primary to Kent’s work philosophy is the principle of engagement. It’s easy to get lost in the technical details, he says. What excites Kent about his work is the “story” that can be found in each project. “There is always something really compelling and really human at the core of our work,” he says. “Being able to express that aspect is what makes a project come alive.” Kent prepares the team’s award submissions and manages the firm’s various social media platforms and public engagements, including organizing the firm’s events. He has also helmed the publication of the firm’s in-house magazine, reImagine, which has released seven issues since its inaugural publication in 2014.
