About Khalid Alshammri

As the Director General of Visas at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I oversee the development and implementation of the Kingdom's comprehensive visa strategy, which aims to facilitate the entry of visitors, enhance the security and economic interests of the country, and promote its global image and reputation. I have over 20 years of experience in international relations, diplomacy, and consular affairs, with a Master's degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS University of London. I have successfully represented the Ministry in several joint committees to prepare and organise major international events and conferences that require the participation of large numbers of visitors from outside the Kingdom, such as the Future Investment Initiative, the G20 meetings, the World Defence Show, and the Formula 1 and E races. I have also participated in the decision-making, studying, drafting, and preparing of several relevant laws and regulations, such as labour laws, residency laws, and the visit visa law. In addition, I have extensive experience in meeting and negotiating with counterparts from other countries officials and members of the diplomatic corps to safeguard the interests of the Kingdom and its nationals and to reflect a positive image of the Kingdom in various aspects. I am passionate about enhancing the Kingdom's role and influence in the regional and international arenas and fostering constructive and mutually beneficial relations with diverse stakeholders.
