Background

About Kim Brewitt

As a data scientist and biologist, I’m passionate about using data to address scientific problems. I enjoy a challenge, and love projects that push me to learn new skills or concepts. I have my PhD in Biology from UC Santa Cruz, where I designed and led research projects focused on the Pacific salmon response to thermal stress. This work provided me with a strong background in statistical analyses and modeling, study design, project management, and excellent problem-solving skills. My more recent work has taken me into machine learning in Python, including image detection using deep learning and updating a model to predict the carbon footprint of coffee crops and allow agricultural businesses to better quantify the value of regenerative practices. I’m an enthusiastic collaborator and enjoy working with others on complex problems and coming up with creative solutions. I’m equally comfortable working independently and clearly communicating my results to various audiences. I like to spend my free time outdoors, hiking, running, mountain biking, skiing, canoeing, or camping with my family. I'm always eager to make new connections and share ideas. Please message me if you would like to connect!
