About Kimberly Vanwagner

Connecting people with their jobs so they can bring their best selves to others drives my passion. I am trustworthy and hard-working and I bring out the same in others. I’ve helped people find that connection through labor relations and union organizing in the home healthcare sector - which engendered better care for seniors and people with disabilities. I’ve helped make that connection by opening a community space in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, providing computer skills training and afterschool programs for low-income families, and by providing office management to the Adult Education department at Delgado Community College. When I reorganized a unique team of staff and volunteers at a senior center, I was able to guide and inspire new levels of effort and commitment from employees to reinvigorate the programs and achieve exponential growth. And, during the Covid pandemic, I was part of a team which connected organizations representing thousands of front-line workers with rapid response funds and capacity building grants - to make the struggle for workers a little less daunting. I am curious about our human connections, intuitive about what motivates people, and able to find common ground. Yet, I am also rules-oriented and mitigation-minded. I have a risk management approach to my work. I insist on accurate record-keeping, strict compliance with contractual, legal and regulatory mandates, and honesty and integrity from people.
