About Kitty Leydon

I am a dedicated and enthusiastic newsroom runner at RTÉ, recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from Dublin City University. My career is built on a diverse collection of experiences in media and broadcasting, which have refined my skills and fuelled my passion for the industry. My professional journey has included various roles at RTÉ, including positions with GAAGO, as a production assistant, and in the newsroom, as well as experience at Ocean FM radio station. I have gained hands-on experience in the fast-paced environments of both national and local news. Working with Ocean FM I found my passion and fulfillment in connecting with local audiences and addressing the issues that matter most to them. My role at RTÉ's newsroom further allows me to engage with news production on a national scale. This has equipped me with an extensive understanding of the media landscape in Ireland. Additionally, I have held roles in esteemed organizations such as The Guardian and The Production People, contributing to high-profile productions including "The Late Late Toy Show" and the "New Year’s Eve Special." My diverse background has provided me with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating creativity, organization, and a keen eye for detail. I am passionate about leveraging these skills in my journalistic pursuits as I develop my career, to become a compelling journalist and presenter. Continuously committing to improving my craft and contributing meaningfully to the field of journalism as I advance in this dynamic industry.
