About Kobus Botha

I am a Professional Civil Engineer with over 30 years' experience in the investigation and design of water supply schemes in South Africa, neighboring countries and international hydrocarbons projects. My work includes hydraulic design applicable to bulk water supply schemes, gravity and rising mains, water and wastewater treatment works, pump stations, reservoirs, utilities and reticulation networks. I have worked on both minor and major projects for private developers and governmental authorities, as well as on projects abroad. As a water pipeline specialist, I am held in high regard for my extensive expertise in hydraulic steady state and surge analysis and design of water schemes ranging from small to large pipelines up to 1,900 mm in diameter, as well as for complex designs, surge mitigation and pressure management to reduce water losses. Numerous feasibility studies for pipeline schemes up to 2,500 mm in diameter were conducted by me. I mentor engineering staff up to professional registration and act as an external examiner for the Stellenbosch University. Renowned awards were bestowed on projects in which I played a key design role.
