Turning Science into Impact I have dedicated my career to understanding how forests and ecosystems respond to a changing climate — and to using that knowledge to shape solutions that work in the real world. From building models of Europe’s forests in the 1990s to guiding large-scale ecological restoration today, my focus has always been on the same question: how can science help us secure resilient, thriving ecosystems for the future? Scientist & Innovator With over 35 years of experience in ecological modeling, forest genetics, and climate change research, I have contributed to hundreds of scientific publications and major European projects. My work ranges from process-based models of tree growth and forest resilience, to innovative tools that connect data, policy, and practice. Along the way, I have enjoyed collaborating across disciplines — linking ecology, genetics, remote sensing, and climate science. Leader & Educator As a professor and research leader, I have mentored teams of young scientists, coordinated international consortia, and helped policymakers translate complex science into actionable strategies. I believe strongly in the power of knowledge networks: bringing people together across countries and disciplines to accelerate progress.
