About Kristen Shaw

Kristen Shaw is currently working as an Environmental Consultant. She holds a BA in Psychology, Geography, and Environmental Management, and a B.Sc. Honours degree which she passed with distinction from the North-West University in South Africa. She is passionate about GIS, People, Project Development, and the Environment. Kristen has experience with environmental authorisation applications, compiling basic assessment reports, scoping and environmental impact assessment reports and environmental management programmes, executing the public participation process, undertaking environmental compliance audits, providing environmental control officer services, GIS mapping (ArcMap & ArcPro), and conducting environmental screening assessments as per project specifications. She also has One Year of Experience in Air Quality monitoring, data analysis and stack emission sampling for the North West University’s CRG (Climatology Research Group). Honours subjects were the following-Environmental Management (Introduction to Environmental law and regulation, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, EMS Auditing (ISO 19011 and ISO 17021), Integrated Reporting)-Earth Observation (Earth observation systems, Observation uncertainty, Analytical procedures, and Integrative sensing)-Air Pollution (Emissions, Chemistry, Transport, Monitoring, Modeling, Managing)-Introduction to Environmental Management -Applications in GIS (ArcMap & ArcPro)-Research Methodology Kristen is an enthusiastic person with a positive, energetic attitude and has good communication skills. She has served on various leadership platforms throughout the years attending leadership and communication summits. In 2021 she was elected as the Chairperson (Primaria) of 252 ladies for her Residence. She balanced her leadership responsibilities with Academic, sports, and cultural activities. She has always had a passion for the environment and trying to help where she can, hosting formal events and initiatives to raise awareness of environmental issues.
