About Kyle Mattila

I have 15+ years of experience as a System Engineer and DevOps expert and have deployed, maintained, and automated enterprise-scale Windows Server environments for dozens of Fortune 500 companies including Microsoft, Home Depot, Chevron, Johnson & Johnson, Wells Fargo, Coca Cola, and McDonalds. I have also discreetly built several High-security (ITAR) server environments for the FAA, ATF, USDA, and Raytheon. I have solved complex problems in every aspect of the Windows Server environment including AD, IIS, GPO, DNS, Firewall, and SQL. And I am able to script it all with extensive experience automating common tasks with PowerShell. I have deployed servers at both small and large scale using technologies like Azure, VMware, and Hyper-V and managed them through SCOM, SCVMM, and custom written PowerShell modules. I am passionate about redundancy. I have run several disaster recovery drills to ensure no data will be lost in the event of a disaster and I have designed and built a 200-server highly available cross-datacenter server cluster with SQL replication, log shipping, and file replication with DFS that exceeded uptime. I am also passionate about security. I have discovered and discreetly resolved multiple instances of personal data being exposed including thousands of scans of 1040’s and social security cards. I have also used tools like Rapid7’s InsightVM to reduce the risk score of my servers by 90% over just 6 months. I am excited about the next step of my adventure, but more than anything, I am excited to learn new things and tackle new problems head on.
