About Lacey Harris
As a results-oriented leader, I understand and underscore the tremendous responsibility that we have to ensure that students in underserved communities have a stronger and more robust pathway into higher education. Though many describe college as an individual opportunity, I know firsthand how a college degree offers wide ranging benefits for the families and communities of first generation college students. Ensuring access and equity in college admissions and opportunities has become my life's work. Over the past 4 years navigating high school seniors through the college application process, we have ensured that more than 500 students of color were successfully admitted and enrolled into 4-year universities with a 97% acceptance rate. My current position as 11th & 12th grade counselor has provided me with great insight into the “why” and “ how” we can effectuate structural and policy changes to create a transformative impact and generate access for students of color from communities like South Los Angeles into the collegiate arena.
