Background
About Lander Willem
As a professor at University of Antwerp, I apply my analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to address public health challenges using mathematical tools and cost-benefit studies. I have a PhD in Medicine and Science, and a Master of Bio-Engineering, which enable me to combine different disciplines and perspectives in my research and teaching. My goal is to develop and apply innovative infectious disease modelling methods and health economics frameworks to inform policy and practice in various contexts, such as COVID-19, influenza, and healthcare organisation. I have published multiple peer-reviewed articles, received a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), and collaborated with international experts and organizations in my field. I also enjoy mentoring and coaching students and colleagues, drawing from my experience as a sport team leader and trainer. My aim is to empower and inspire the next generation of researchers and practitioners in public health and health economics.
