Strategic – Ideation – Learner – Positivity – Achiever I remember the raised eyebrow of the person interviewing me for a sales position years ago. Sitting across the desk with my resume in hand, a glance up at me and then back at the paper, he finally posed the question, “I don't get it. Your string of experience. How does this fit together?” Here is how I see it. First, among many other things, being a part of the Navy’s Nuclear Power Program taught me the value of hard work and diligence. It taught me responsibility, respect and the critical worth of teamwork. In that environment, the ability to problem solve is the literal difference between staying alive and not. Secondly, studying anthropology taught me the importance of research and critical thinking. I've learned to observe and to listen. I’ve learned that the world is viewed from a relative position and the true observer must do his or her best to walk in the other person’s shoes before making assumptions. In summary, I explained, “I am exactly the person for the job.” Now, after that successful interview, many years later, I continue to put those passions and skills to good use, supporting my organization, by discovering the true needs of our clients and providing solutions.
