About Laura Crawshaw

With over forty years' experience as a psychotherapist, corporate officer, researcher and executive coach of abrasive leaders, and author, Dr. Laura Crawshaw founded the Executive Insight Development Group in 1994, The Boss Whispering Institute in 2009, and co-founded the Consortium on Abrasive Conduct in Higher Education (CACHE) in 2013. Executive Insight specializes in coaching abrasive leaders, and has served an international clientele of organizations, including over 40 Fortune 500 companies, United Nations organizations and NASA. The Boss Whispering Institute is dedicated to research and training in the field of coaching abrasive leaders and educating employers on Courageous Conduct Intervention. The Institute's mission is to stop individual and organizational suffering caused by workplace bullying. Dr. Crawshaw speaks and trains coaches and managers internationally and authored Taming the Abrasive Manager: How to End Unnecessary Roughness in the Workplace in 2007, and Grow Your Spine and Manage Abrasive Leadership Behavior in 2023. A Founding Fellow of Harvard’s Institute of Coaching, Dr. Crawshaw also holds membership in the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations, the American Psychological Association, the British Psychological Society, Australia's National Psychosocial Safety Network, the International Coach Federation, the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council, and the International Association on Workplace Bullying and Harassment at Work. Dr. Crawshaw received her master's degree in clinical social work from the Smith College School for Social Work and conducted postgraduate studies at the Seattle Institute for Psychoanalysis and the Harvard Community Health Plan. She subsequently completed a second master's degree and her Ph.D. in Human & Organizational Systems at Fielding Graduate University.
