About Lauren Florisson

My passion for animals started at an early age. Through various internships I began to realize that my true passion lay in conservation of wild animals. Through various working and education opportunities in different countries I specialized in conservation of (captive) small populations. My experiences has taught me to be flexible, hardworking both independently and in a team, to always pursue my passion and dreams and think outside of the box when facing a challenge. I have developed excellent communication skills when dealing with people from various cultural backgrounds. In the future, I would like to work in a position which either is directly involved in managing a collection or animals or can help facilitates conservation work across Europe by supporting zoos by providing expertise while providing the highest standard of husbandry and welfare for the animals. I am highly interested in how genetics, welfare and husbandry can be used to aid in the conservation of small species. In recent years I have worked for different zoo and aquarium associations supporting in various roles such as organizing events, supporting with meeting strategic objectives and keeping track of financial overviews and payments.
