About Leanne Cantlay

I'm am currently 23 years of age I reside in peterhead and have 2 young children. I have nearly 7 years care experience and I am currently an arch responder for Aberdeenshire council, I love my job (no 2 shifts are the same) and I am very passionate about my job and about providing the very best standard of care that I can. My job can be demanding and stressful, sometimes very quick difficult decision making is needed, I find I thrive in these situations. I gained good grades at school and achieved all credit level standard grades. I went on after school to pursue my career in care, I completed a course at Aberdeen college (access to nursing) and successfully gained a place on the bachelors degree in nursing at Robert Gordon's university. Upon studying my degree I found out I was expecting my first child, my plan was to return to my degree after a year break, the pressures of motherhood and my new sense of purpose prevented me from doing so. I did however graduate with a certificate of higher education in healthcare. However I continued to work within care, I knew that I needed a job where I came home feeling a sense of having made a difference, working within care is the only way I could do this. I continued working within carehomes until I gained a position with mears care as a homecarer, I enjoyed this position greatly and it gave me the understanding that a position involving working within the community was exactly what I wanted. This is when I applied to become an arch responder, and to my delight I was successful. And that's it from there really I've been working away as a responder now for 2 years and although there are tough days I wouldn't change my time there for anything, I have an exciting job and I work with some great members of staff. I do in years to come perhaps want to further my career and do something in management who knows what the future holds but I look forward it every step along the way.
