About Leanne P.

Leanne Petersen is a writer and independent curator and producer from London, England. Her writing is mainly concerned with Black British visual artists with a focus on oral and written histories, lived experiences and introspection surrounding identity and representation. Most recently she has produced the second iteration of the Hackney Windrush Art Commission by Thomas J Price entitled ‘Warm Shores’ 2022 and is the recipient of the British Art Network project bursary which led to the realisation of 'Black Art & The Burden of Representation' seminar at the Paul Mellon Centre in October 2022 where she held an in conversation with the Danish/ Trinidadian artist Jeannette Elhers. Leanne has previously held posts at Hauser & Wirth (London), David Zwirner Gallery (London / New York) and Autograph ABP (London) where she co-organised solo artists commissions by Phoebe Boswell: The Space Between Things (2019), Arpita Shah: The Scared Cloth (2018) and Omar Victor Diop: Liberty/Diaspora (2018) and contributed to a number of the gallery’s major exhibitions including Maxine Walker: Untitled (2019), Lola Flash:[sur]passing (2019) and Lina Iris Viktor: Some Are Born to Endless Night -Dark matter (2019), editing and authoring communication and resources for many of these projects.
