About Loraine Smith

I have been a freelance illustrator all of my adult life largely working for private clients and making their dreams come true for their private collections. In university my thesis work focused on women and non-binary femme people and how they choose to curate themselves when interacting in an online environment (social media & MMOs). My work explored how my subjects desired how they wished the world saw them, how they felt they needed to protect themselves, and what their characters said about them. As an illustrator now in the game industry I explore with my team how we can bring characters and worlds to life that are not only representative of the people around us but also how to be inclusive, intersectional, and respectful while doing so. Going forward I want to make sure that I continue on that same foot at whichever company I may end up at. I promise to be an employee that my teammates may confide in and won't stand idly by when I see discrimination or harassment occurring. I want to make the game industry safer for all of us.
