About Luan Tran

As a driven professional specializing in Bioprocess Engineering with a deep passion for Bioreactors, I'm currently immersed in a collaborative PhD program led by esteemed mentors: Professor Kristel Bernaerts, Professor Kai Dallmeier, and Dr. Thomas Vercruysse. Our focus is on optimizing the production of next-generation vaccines, a project supported by both Astrivax and VLAIO through the Baekeland mandate. My hands-on experience includes constructing and characterizing a Mini-Chemostat cultivation system during a scientific internship at INT Dresden (TU-Dresden). Additionally, I conducted research at KU Leuven alongside Professors Bernaerts and Aertsen, investigating infection kinetics of phage lambda in bioreactors. Further broadening my expertise, I've delved into microfluidic devices/chips during my tenure at IFW-Dresden. Under the guidance of Dr. Andreas Winker and Dr. Armaghan Fakhfouri, I designed a microfluidic chip using advanced manufacturing techniques. Notably, my work demonstrated the feasibility of achieving mixing under miniaturized conditions through acoustic applications. My multidisciplinary background and practical involvement in innovative projects underscore my commitment to advancing the field of Bioprocess Engineering. I'm eager to contribute my skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm to impactful endeavors in this dynamic industry.
