About Lucas Cober

As the oldest of ten siblings, I've been a teacher since before I could tie my shoes. As a university educator I have taught difficult concepts to hundreds of diverse adult students with a high success rate. My students come out of my classrooms with skills to help them communicate, read and write more clearly, and understand the world on its own terms. My skills-Teaching: Nearly a decade of experience in all kinds of dynamic classrooms, online, in-person and hybrid-Course Design: I write my own curricula, keeping to the highest standards of my institution and department-Communication: My written and oral communication skills come from a desire for accessibility and empathy that drive me to understand other people and help them understand me-Organization: I have managed several projects, committees and events, often as the go-to person for details and numbers-Project management: Organized several fundraisers, conferences, and a book-length dissertation project on tight schedules-Fundraising: I have both organized fundraising events and written successful applications for grants from funding bodies private and public. My background-Almost a decade of experience volunteering in the not for profit sector in administrative/organizational roles-Teaching experience at three universities focused on communicating and empathizing with a huge variety of students from a plethora of backgrounds-Training in research and project management through multiple thesis projects across two graduate degrees-A history of strong academic standing that has taught me to learn and apply new information rapidly and efficiently-Two publications and a dozen conference talks that have taught me to engage with a variety of audiences concisely and effectively.
