About Lucy Harmon

I am a 4th year teacher at Saint Columbkille Partnership School, a Catholic school in Boston. I have taught 6th grade Math and Science for three years and currently teach 5th grade Math. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and serving students in this setting has been a wonderful experience! STCPS is partnered with Boston College. I was fortunate enough to be teaching at STCPS while obtaining my master's degree full-time, starting in 2019 and ending in 2021. As a student at BC and as a member of the Urban Catholic Teacher Corps, I lived in an intentional community with a group of other educators that served in schools across the Archdiocese of Boston. Parts of our program included participating in retreats, professional development sessions on undoing racism and equity in education, and reflective practices. At Saint Columbkille, I am currently head of the Social-Emotional Learning Committee and serve on our school's leadership team. I meet with instructional coaches through Boston College once a month to discuss the implementation and piloting of a new school-wide SEL program. I teach Study Skills as well as a Faith, Service, and Leadership course. I also coach Girls on the Run for 3rd-5th grades in the Fall and Spring. I have had to be continuously adaptable with my instructional strategies over the past two years. I have been able to successfully implement differentiated group work while maintaining safety and adhering to mandated guidelines. I have also learned strategies of how to include more diversity, equity and inclusion into the subjects I teach through Boston College and our DEI committee.
