Travel is truly the air that I breathe. At the age of 15, I was hired as a part time employee by Carnival Cruise Lines to register their cruise guests at the Port of Miami. To this day, I vividly remember going to high school during the week and working with two of my closest friends at the port on Saturdays and Sundays. Fast forward a little over three decades and I am still actively involved in the travel industry, serving a much broader clientele and trying to earn our clients complete satisfaction. The majority of clients I partner with today are teachers and professors who find the task of arranging any component of a student tour daunting or time-consuming. They much rather spend their time preparing the lesson plan and teaching the course than researching airline schedules, hotel availability and ground transportation. As president of Sojourn Travel Consultants, I support teachers and professors by creating tours that complement their curriculum and openly engages their students. These tours bring life to the curriculum and captivate the attention of the students. These student tours are experiential by allowing students to participate in workshops or visit places where those historical events took place. These tours are also memorable by creating lasting friendships, a greater tolerance for other cultures, as well as a broader worldview.
