I truly dislike Bad Design…of anything. And wasted opportunities are almost as frustrating. Great Design can not only change lives but can create opportunities for both people and businesses. So, I cannot understand why just about every industry out there is ignoring over 1 Billion+ people who are using products, inhabiting buildings, navigating cities, experiencing services and sharing life experiences in a world that has been designed without them. Why have 1 Billion+ people been left out of the global conversation simply because of their mobility, sight, hearing or position on the cognitive spectrum? In addition, another 750 million customers are being neglected due to their age being 65+. And by 2050, that market segment will number over 1.6 Billion (95 million in the US alone). Now is the time to design a world that is Aging and Disability inclusive. Why? Well, because it is the right thing to do. But I also understand businesses need to be successful in order to be able to do good things. So how about this… When things are well designed to accommodate the 1 Billion+ with different needs, they actually work better for ALL 8 billion global consumers. How is that for maximizing the total available market? How can I help you? Because I KNOW what it takes to create a sustainable society and sustainable universally accessible world where everyone can take part. Personally, I have experienced the before, during and after of multiple orthopedic surgeries and am now caregiving for my own 85+ year old parents. Professionally, in my 30+ years of success in the Building/Design/Architecture industry and the Travel/Hospitality industry, I have worked with thousands of clients. The result? I have developed an incredibly unique breadth and depth of knowledge of what it takes to create truly usable accessible design for products, buildings and services. As a corporate advisor, speaker and trainer, I work to share that knowledge to foster a greater understanding of what truly accessible design can be and what it can achieve. I show companies how they can create amazing products, places and services that are not only truly inclusive but so much more. Because by serving the 1 Billion+ market, Great Design can actually serve all 8 Billion. And create a world that just works, for everyone….by Design!
