Experienced case manager at the Drug Treatment Court in Ghent. Guiding, coaching and closely monitoring defendants with professional secrecy for drug related crimes and with personal addiction issues. Developing a treatment plan with clear objectives on all life domains (not just drug abuse) together with the client in a confidential setting. Focusing on developing intrinsic motivational development. Referring the client to the most relevant services for their most specific needs and long term goals. Playing a pivotal role in building and maintaining a network of assistance and being the central point of contact, based on shared professional secrecy. Reporting to the Drug Treatment Court on progresses being made and motivational improvement during treatment. Closely monitoring the client in a confidence based relationship and during the whole Drug Treatment Court procedure. Doing intakes in prison for detainees during pre-trial detention to enable them to receive appropriate treatment immediately after their release. Visits at home or in residential treatment facilities to ensure continuous relationship building. Participating in structural consultation networks, intervision meetings and ad hoc network meetings for urgent occasions and crisis situations. All of this with the goal in mind of changing the client's way of thinking about the possible repercussions of illegal drug use on all aspects of life and enforcing his self esteem in becoming a well functioning and reintegrated citizen. By doing so helping to minimizing the sanctions for the committed crimes, increasing insight of the impact of the committed crimes on their victims and stmulate remediation with victims where needed.
